Butters

Butters form an occlusive layer on the surface of the skin, essentially creating a protective barrier, to prevent loss of moisture. Click below to learn more about the individual butters we use.

Shea butter

Cocoa Butter

Derived from cocoa beans, cocoa butter is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E. Possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Ideal for dry or mature skin, stretch marks, and improving skin elasticity. Best suited for use in body creams, and heavier lip products . Light cocoa scent.


Shea Butter

Derived from the nuts of the shea tree, shea butter is rich in fatty acids , vitamins A and E.  Possesses anti-inflammatory and healing properties, and supports skin barrier function. It is ideal for sensitive, dry, or damaged skin. With a low comedogenic rating of 0-2, it can be used on the face, but is wonderful for the body and lips. 


Mango Butter

Extracted from mango seeds, mango butter is rich in vitamins A and C.  Possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.  Soft and lightweight, it’s ideal for non-greasy formulas. Best suited for use in body creams and very light lip products. Has no real scent (though some people say there is a hint, a whiff, of nuttiness).


Kokum Butter

From the seeds of the Kokum Tree (Garcinia indica tree) Kokum butter is non-comedogenic, rich in fatty acids and vitamin E.  Possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Lightweight, and fast absorbing, it is ideal for sensitive or acne-prone skin in non-greasy formulas. Suitable for all skin types. Lightly nutty scent.
